Full registrants without an ASIC were able to apply for a VIC for themselves and accompanying passengers in order to access airside to participate in the formation and Elephant Walk. There is no other reason to access airside as all other official event activities are landside.
If you are a PARTIAL registrant you don't need a VIC for arriving and departing on a flight. All airside Fly-in event activities are strictly restricted to FULL registrants.
VICs are NOT an airside access pass - a VIC is an AusCheck (Dept of Home Affairs) visitor pass that only allows you to be airside when you fulfil the following criteria:
you MUST be ACCOMPANIED by your nominated ASIC holder at all times, and,
you MUST have a valid reason to be airside, and,
your nominated ASIC holder MUST have a valid reason to be airside, and,
the VIC is only valid for the event.
If you break the above rules, your nominated ASIC holder is the person who will be held responsible... so just don’t.
That's all very cheery, isn't it? For more information see Visitor ID Card (VIC) and Auscheck Information Regarding Visitor Identity Cards.
If you are a FULL registrant and applied for a VIC, you need to present the ID (driver’s licence or whatever you used for the application) to the VIC issuer, Larni Wallace of New England Flying. Larni will be present at the Registration Desk, Friday night at 'The Aero' (see Event Map) from 5.00pm.
