Tamworth is a security-controlled airport, and ASICs are normally required for any airside access other than embarking and disembarking. (Yes, we know.) Some of the activities for full registrants may be airside, and we know that some full registrants don't have ASICs. The solution is something called a VIC. You can think of a VIC as a temporary ASIC, but you must still be "supervised" airside by an accompanying ASIC holder.
If you don't have an ASIC and you want to participate in any airside activity, you will need to apply for a Tamworth Airport Visitor Information Card (VIC). This includes partners or passengers of ASIC-holding pilots (except for the purposes of arrival and departure).
But don't be too concerned... the VIC application process is pretty easy.
To apply, you must send an email to treasurer@airtourer.asn.au with the following details and attachments:
The name of your accompanying ASIC holder. (If you don't have one, we will nominate one for you.)
A colour photo of the accompanying ASIC holder's ASIC card.
The phone number of the accompanying ASIC holder.
The email address of the accompanying ASIC holder.
A colour photo of your driver's licence
A recent colour photo of yourself (similar to a passport photo)
Your phone number
Your email address
For example, if you are Jim Smith, and you don't have an ASIC, but your travelling partner Jane Smith does, then you will need to apply for a VIC by emailing a photo of Jane's ASIC, Jane's phone number and email address, a photo of your driver's licence, a photo of yourself, and your phone number and email address to treasurer@airtourer.asn.au.
If you are Bob Downe and you are driving in as a full registrant, you don't have an ASIC and are travelling alone, you will need to apply for a VIC to participate in airside activities by sending a photo of your driver's licence, a photo of yourself, and your phone number and email address to treasurer@airtourer.asn.au, noting that you don't have an accompanying ASIC holder. If your partner is a partial registrant, she or he won't need a VIC because airside activities are restricted to full registrants.
If neither of these scenarios fit your circumstances, send a question to treasurer@airtourer.asn.au.
